These non-native birds, members of the partridge family, were initially introduced in the United States before 1900, but it was the 1930's before chukars found their home in the dry desert areas of the western U.S. Chukar hunting in Nebraska is challenging, as these birds are fast and unpredictable in their flight. Nebraska Prairie Chicken Hunting
Hunting Prairie Chicken in Nebraska is one of the toughest and most trying of the upland hunting offerings here. Prairie Chickens are known to be skittish and alert, a combination that leads to a lot of walking and searching. While not as abundant as some of the other upland bird species in Nebraska, they are still a challenging hunt. They like to hang out in the remote areas that usually are a distance away and demands much walking to get there.
